I have read that drinking two quarts of water a day will lower PSA levels. Is this true, or just an old wives tale. I have opted against having a biopsy or any surgical procedure.

There are other symptoms that track prostate problems, such as.several varieties of problems urinating.

Once I stopped using straterra the syptoms diminished but are still nagging two months later.

A friend of mine, who is 56 years old, was just diagnosed with prostate cancer. He has a pretty advanced case, gleason grade 9 and I think a PSA under 10. His dad died of prostate cancer. The doctors are worried because a year ago, he was tested and had extremely low PSA levels, but now they are much higher. This could be a sign of aggression. They don’t know if it has spread yet. His doctor has recommended surgery in Seattle.
Has anyone gone through this? Can anyone tell me what the likelihood is that he will be OK?
Oh, just found out the PSA last year was 2 and now is 5.

Im 21, and am concidering taking propecia for hair loss however am concered about a potential prostrate cancer link.

From what ive read, Propecia cuts PSA levels by a half after a year of taking it, and this in turn leads to a reduce risk of getting a low grade prostrate cancer but however leads to an increased risk of getting high grade cancer.

My question is, is there a PSA level thats too LOW to be safe. for example if I have a really low PSA level without taking Propecia, and I take it for a year and this low PSA level cuts in half! will this lead to an increased cancer link?

Also is it really safe to be playing around with PSA levels like Propecia seems to? surely the PSA level should serve some function in your body apart from aiding in the destruction of my beautiful hair
